Fill it in!

I fell in love with this Tadashi dress and then TADA we found it for 75% off, had to get it, but it had to be modestified. There was a lot of netting and the sleeves were a little short for my taste. Here's some pics of the process.

The netting on the bottom before...

The netting on the bottom after! (this is the underneath)
We also could have just started from the top and put one big piece in, but we decided it would create a cleaner line to do 3 small pieces to fill in the netting rather than one big piece.
We also added length to the bottom tier to add length to the entire dress.

We added this to fill in and lengthen the sleeve.

The final product! I love this dress!

The Double Skirt

This was a favorite of mine on the mission...
Skirt too short? Just wear two!!!

It started quite the trend. I remember one of the sweet sisters came up to me and said "look Sister Hansen, I'm you!" and twirled around in her double skirt ensemble.

$30 Shabby Apple Dresses!

Come one come all! Shabby Apple's Trunk Show!!!

Yes, Shabby Apple is usually an online-only store, but this weekend is their TRUNK SHOW at Trolley Square!!!

Shabby Apple is a company started by a girl who was literally DUMPED for being modest. She decided she would embrace it!  http://mormon.org/athelia/

I LOVE Shabby Apple, but I'm always a little hesitant to buy online without trying them on.
Me, my sister, and my mom went and found some lovely deals! Most dresses were about $30 bucks (normally over $100) So we were very pleased!
Here are a few of our finds!!!

I LOVE this dress! It IS just a cotton dress, but I LOVE the yellow! We're thinking it's a little plain though, so we'll probably add a white band on the bottom.

This picture does NOT do this dress justice! Every girl that tried it on looked FANTASTIC!

I was nervous about this dress because of my pear figure, but it does a GREAT job makin' my waist look so tiny! No photoshop to make me look skinny here, just a great, flattering dress!

If you go to the SALE section on Shabby Apple, you'll see a lot of the clothes that were there. You can FB message me or email me and ask me about certain ones, I'll let you know if they're there. or at least if I saw them.

Happy Shopping!

Sleeveless to Slevies

I wore this lovely dress for my interview for Miss Murray a few years ago. I felt comfortable in it then; however, right after the pageant we decided to add sleeves to the dress.

I'm grateful for my  mom's knowledge in how to do all of this.
We added black sleeves and finished them with a cuff patterned after the details that were already on the dress.

This was a HARD project!  But even if you're not a pro sewer, this can give you some great ideas to haw to add sleeves to a sleeveless dress!

Enjoy!

Polka Dot Mesh Madness

So, along with all this lace that is SO in right now, come these lovely tops where the bodice is regular cloth and the top is lacey.
I found this shirt and fell in LOVE with it, but wanted to still be modest.
Many people just wear a tan under shirt with these, I support that. But me and my mom figured out something better: sewing in tan netting so you are always modest!

This way there are no lines=so slimming!

This also means you can wear anything under your shirt you need to. No need to run away from this fun fashion, it takes some time to  "modestify" this, but its worth it!

Loving Lace!

It is rare that I find a dress that I love that I don't have to do a thing to modestify it.
Well ladies, I was in luck when I found this great dress from Macy's!

It is an Maggy London. I suggest getting a size up if you have curvy hips like me. I'm wearing the size 6 here.

I love this dress because it is fully lined and I didn't have to do a thing to it before I could wear it!
I wore it to stake conference and got MANY compliments on it! I also wore it on Valentine's Day for my night out with my grandpa! It was perfect for both occasions.

It goes for $160 at Nordstrom and most retailers, but I found it for $70 at Macy's. I was very excited!!!

An Easy Fix!

This cute clip from the Cotton Blossom Boutique is an easy fix for MANY a just-a-little-too-short dresses!

This is on my cute friend, but I'm planning on purchasing one this week! I heard it comes in at least cream, white, and black! It would be worth it to me to get all three!
I think she said it was around $30.
