Modest "Snowflake Princess"

First real post!

Reminder: Modest does NOT have to equal frumpy!!! With the help of my lovely mom, I've learned being modest and cute takes work, but it's definitely worth it!

We got this dress from Anthropology. I wore it before my mission, And I felt pretty good wearing it. This was when I wore it to the Institute Winter Formal.

But after the mission, I realized I really wanted it to be longer to cover all I want to cover and someday to be long enough for when I'm chasin' around little ones. So here's what we did!

We took the dress to JoAnn and found this lovely fabric.
(This is key, always take the clothing your "modestifying" to the store when you're buying the fabric. It's much easier to just bring the fabric than to guess!

We loved the snowflake pattern.

And it had this great edge!

But we had to buy A TON of it in order to get enough! We bought a few yards, and just used the edge. I'm sure we'll find a use for this cute fabric!
And here's what it looks like on the bottom. We also had to add fabric underneath to the lining so it wasn't see through. So we added two layers- one to the inside and one to the outside.

I wore this to the temple and running some errands on Saturday and everyone smiled as I wore it! I'm not sure if they loved my dress or the fact that I was wearing a high heel and dress with my post-surgery boot, but I sure felt a princess! My friend Cali even called me a "Snowflake Princess."

Now the dress goes all the way to the bottom of my knees when I'm standing and covers my knees completely when I'm sitting down.

Hope this gives you all some ideas of how to be cute and covered!
